Why Wild Is Sacred

Why Wild Is Sacred

Some ingredients can’t be farmed — only found.

“You don’t need to tame the wild to trust it.”

At EYWA, we believe in a different kind of ingredient: one that doesn’t arrive with a label, but with intention, energy, and story.

Across our Whole Bar, you’ll find ingredients that are wild-grown or minimally cultivated, harvested where they naturally thrive, not where they’re manipulated to perform. Think sea vegetables grown in unpolluted coastal waters, or naturally growing curry or kaffir lime leaves that have been part of everyday nourishment for generations.

Why we source wild:

  • Wild-grown plants often develop more resilience, which translates to higher levels of naturally occurring nutrients.
  • They are untouched by industrial systems — no monoculture, no artificial irrigation, no synthetics.
  • They represent a kind of flavour and potency that is hard to replicate in controlled environments.

A 2021 food systems review found that wild edible plants in Southeast Asia are often richer in minerals and polyphenols than their farmed counterparts. That doesn’t make them better, it makes them different. Raw. Honest. Alive.

When we say “wild,” we mean free, not chaotic.
We mean nature, not neglect.
We mean flavour with memory, the kind you come back to.
